Designer's note #1: Breaking the Tie
After a few playthroughs, I've noticed that games often end in a tie. While this can actually be a good thing — especially when playing with less experienced players who don’t enjoy losing (kinda feel-good game) — it does take away some of the excitement for more competitive players.
I’m still not entirely sure what the optimal strategy is, but it seems that complex combos leading to a higher number of claimed characters are key. Without a strong combo, ties are quite common.
To address this, I’ve decided to test two small bonus point rules: one for a bard with four beverage tokens (if the last one is yours), and one for a mixed couple seated at a two-person table (again, if both final tokens are yours).
We’ll see how it goes — turns out balancing the rules just right is trickier than expected.
